In the heart of the ocean

on the raft

floated just the two of us

We were once strangers, yes

Birds came and left

We came close, so close

Through my ribcage I touched it

Slimy and hot

Dragged it out

Pumping

Squirting blood

In my palm

just to show you

You looked at it

You had also done this before

to the first seaman on your shore

In contemplation

you licked it with the tip of your tongue

And look cautiously at me

the way a cat looks at a stranger

My heart beat rapidly on the palm of my hand

Between my lips murmured: “forever.”

Yet forever is a disgusting word

I could see it in your eyes

Then and there, you would never take the bait

You have been hurt before

So you mistook everyone for trying to do the same

As my heart slowed down

And died

In the palm of my hands

Waiting for you

Exposed in the air for far too long.
